First Timers · Hobart
Most people who start with us haven't trained properly in years - some never have. The nerves before your first session are normal, and they're usually gone by the end of it. Nothing below is a sales pitch. It's just what actually happens, so none of your first visit is a surprise.
The Two Things Everyone Worries About
There's no room full of twenty-five-year-old athletes waiting to watch you. Most of our members are adults with jobs, kids, and a body that's been through some things. Every session scales to the person doing it - you work at your level, next to someone working at theirs. Nobody is comparing, because everyone's numbers are their own.
That's the entire point of coaching. You're not expected to arrive knowing the lifts, the numbers, or the language. A coach walks you through every movement - we would rather teach it properly from scratch than have you guess. Not knowing is the normal starting position. It's not something to hide, and it's not a reason to wait until you're "fit enough" first.
Your First Session
Before you train, you sit down with a coach for a few minutes: what you want out of training, anything you're carrying - an old knee, a cranky shoulder - and how much you've done recently. No fitness test, no judgement. Just so we know how to run your session.
The coach knows it's your first time and runs it that way. You'll be taught each movement before you load it, and started at a weight that's right for you - which early on is often just the bar, or less. Going lighter than you think is the correct first move, not a step backwards.
You follow the same session as everyone else, scaled to you, with the coach moving between people. You won't be stuck in a corner on your own, and you won't be left to figure it out. By the end you'll know what you did and why.
What you lifted goes into the app, so your next session starts from where this one finished. You're not starting from zero every time - the point is that it builds.
Straight Answers
Tell us before you start - that's what the first conversation is for. Most people training with us are working around something. We program around it, not through it.
The session is built around the program, not around who's fittest. Everything scales. "Keeping up" isn't the goal - doing the work at the right level for you is.
No. Starting is the point - waiting until you're "ready" is the thing that never happens. Wherever you are now is a fine place to begin.
The Practical Stuff
The Easiest Way In
The best way to get past the nerves is to do the first session. The $49 two-week trial gives you full access, and the coach conversation happens before you train - so you're set up properly from the start.
